At ARB Mobility Ltd, we know that investing in the right mobility equipment can make a huge difference to your independence and quality of life. The good news is — there’s financial support available to help you get what you need.

Two of the most common funding routes are the Personal Wheelchair Budget (PWB) and the Access to Work scheme. Here’s how each one works, and how we can help you make the most of them.

🦽 Personal Wheelchair Budget (PWB)

A Personal Wheelchair Budget is funding provided by your local NHS Wheelchair Service. It’s designed to give you more choice and control over the wheelchair you receive.

Instead of being limited to standard NHS models, you can use your PWB to choose from a wider range of manual or powered wheelchairs, including options available from private mobility companies like ARB Mobility.

How It Works:

Assessment: Contact your NHS Wheelchair Service for an assessment.
Funding Offer: You’ll be told the value of your Personal Wheelchair Budget.
Choose Your Provider: You can use a voucher (Third Party PWB) with ARB Mobility to select the chair that best suits your needs.
Top Up if You Wish: You can add your own funds if you’d like additional features or upgrades.

We’ll guide you through the process, help you find the right chair, and handle the paperwork with your wheelchair service to make things as easy as possible.

💼 Access to Work Scheme

If you’re in employment, self-employment, or about to start a new job, the Access to Work scheme can help cover the cost of mobility equipment you need to get to work or move around your workplace.

Funded by the UK Government, Access to Work supports people with disabilities or long-term health conditions to stay independent and productive at work.

What It Can Cover:

Powerchairs, mobility scooters, or other equipment for work use
Workplace adaptations or wheelchair modifications
Travel costs if you can’t use public transport

How to Apply:

Apply online at GOV.UK – Access to Work.
An Access to Work advisor will assess your needs.
You’ll receive a grant offer confirming what will be funded.
ARB Mobility can then provide quotes, supply the equipment, and deliver it to your home or workplace.

✅ Available through: The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

My broken elderly Rollator was soon sorted and back in use again. It's such a 'find' to have someone who can mend things. I was looking at getting a top of the range power wheelchair with an NHS voucher and top up. Alex arranged a home visit with the company, they were both friendly but professional and personable, as a disabled female, it can be quite daunting to have two men come to your home but I can hand on heart say what lovely chaps! Together they talked me through the benefit of this wheelchair but also any cons. I was in the process of arranging the money when Alex contacted me to say an ex demo one was available. It was a few £k cheaper but it was almost brand spanking new and would be modified FOC to my specs. Alex and the supplier came to adjust it to me on delivery and made sure I was happy with controls, how it worked and that everything was comfortable before they left. My wife and I are relatively new to this scooter business but in a short time we have found that there seems to be quite a few unreliable suppliers online with very poor customer service. That is the opposite of what we have experienced with Alex and we don't mind paying a bit extra compared to online when we get such kind, reliable service.
