If your looking for a power assist device that's portable yet packs a punch then the Empulse wheel drive is the one for you.
Consisting of two wheels, each with their own removable lithium batteries, the Empulse wheel drive replaces your current wheelchair wheels to give you push assist or continuous drive options. No extra parts or modifications are needed, simply pop them on and off you go! You can also quickly and easily switch back to your standard wheels if desired too. Each lightweight lithium battery takes just 2 hours to charge can be popped off for charging, meaning you can continue self propelling in the meantime.
Unique to the Wheel Drive is the dual rim feature which provides two different driving modes. The outer rim provides push assist when your propelling, meaning every push you make will be more powerful and take you further. This maintains independence whilst reducing strain on muscles and joints,
The smaller, inner rim gives you a continuous drive without needing to self propel. Useful if your going on longer journeys or steep terrain and want to conserve your energy.
Both modes have 3 speed settings to choose from and are easy to programme according to your wishes with a maximum speed of 6.2mph for push assist and 4mph for continuous drive mode. The Wheel Drive also has a speed limiter which maintains a consistent speed doen hill so you dont need to worry about your wheelchair accelerating beyond control.
The Power assist wheels weigh just 11.5kg and can be popped off easily for transportation and are airline friendly for travels further afield.
The wheel drive can be fitted to virtually any lightweight or standard wheelchair without the need for additional parts or modifications.
